New Kids on the "Blog"
Hello family and friends! We are excited to inform you that we have not only begun our lives together in real life but also in cyberspace! Its not always easy to keep up- to- date on everyday events when living across the ocean, so we have made a blog to share these exciting and maybe not so exciting events with those who would like to know and keep updated with such things! Enjoy! Love, Mary and Søren

A blast from the past....
We have had some big happenings just prior to our travels to Cyberspace that we would like to share "after the fact." Appearing in chronological order.
Our after-wedding party in Denmark:
We had a fantastic day with about 100 guests. Family, friends, colleagues and good food. Inger and Mary worked hard baking and baking the many cakes and rolls we would need! It was good we had extra space in the entry way cause the massive amounts of food could not be in our not so large kitchen.
It wasn't just a day of eating cake but there was time to look at wedding pictures, watch the wedding video and even see Mary's dress which she had on display! The day went smoothly and we were tired after a long day. But we couldn't go to bed before we opened all our gifts. We recieved many beautiful things and have had fun arranging them to make our home feel like home.

Nikolaj's Baptism:
We have the privilege of being our new nephew, Nikolaj's Godparents. Søren's sister Ulla asked us in August and we were so excited to get to play such an important role in his life. The day of the baptism was also very special and festive. It was a nice church service and afterwards we headed home to the Laursen family for a warm lunch and a day of "hygge". Nikolaj slept most of the day but we are sure he enjoyed himself as much as we did!

Mary's Showkor (Show Choir):
I have just recently made my debut stage performane in Denmark. In April I auditioned for a show choir in Esbjerg. I was so excited when already the next day I recieved a call and was asked to be a member! What was even more exciting was going to the first practice. I didn't exactly know what we would be doing, I knew it was something with musicals so jumped at the opportunity. As it turned out we had to dance, ALOT, and perform different musical songs. I recieved 4 solos in the show, 3 of them being in the scenes from Moulin Rouge where I played Satine.
I was challenged very much with the dancing and it seemed like we would never learn the 30 songs that we would be performing in the big show. After practicing 2-4 times a week since August we were finally getting close to the premiere. Just 2 weeks of practicing everyday and all day on the weekends and the show came together and was a big success. Søren came two nights to see it as well as other friends, family and colleagues. I really enjoyed being on stage again, singing my heart out. Now we have a few weeks break before we start practicing one day a week to keep in shape for the next show.

Now we are nearly caught up. Today we worked hard in the yard, partly so Mary could show off her gardening skills but also because the people living here before us the past 3 years hadn't done anything! (Mary herself included! :) ) We had stacks and stacks of branches after cutting back all the over grown bushes, tree limbs growing into the walking path and much more. Luckily a student wandered by and asked if he could help! Some of the perks of living so close to the students. All in all it was a fun day working together on "our" yard and having a project together.
After dinner we decided to take part in the U.S tradition of Halloween and carved pumpkins. We think they turned out pretty well, you can decide for yourself.
