All three kids were at camp this summer. Silas was at “Sang og musik lejr” (Song and music camp) at the boarding school Grejsdalen. He was there from Sunday until Friday. We all missed him a lot! The week went really fast for Silas though. He was able to hang out with some of the friends he made last year at camp, and also made some new friends. Everyone at the camp loved music, and you could see that Silas really enjoyed being surrounded by other boys who like to sing and play music. There was a big concert on the last day when all the parents went to pick up their kids. Silas had been in one of the band groups and played piano. He was so excited to be able to read the notes and put chords to it! He also surprised us all and had offered to sing a solo for one of the group songs. That was enjoyable to hear and see! All the kids did really great!
While Silas
was at camp, Benjamin, Liam and I were at a Sunday School camp called “Holmsborg.” I was one of the camp
leaders and because Søren was also at “camp” (His school was hosting a two week
confirmation camp and he was in charge) Liam had to come with us. Wow, Laim did great. All the other kids were
older than him, but he just joined in with the others, playing with Benjamin
and his friends, and other kids. Two kids
his age were with, because their parents were also helping, so that was nice
too! It was fun to see both Benjamin and Liam really enjoy themselves with
singing, games, free time building legos, and just biking around, and of course cleaning their rooms for the daily inspection...they were really into it and Benjamin's room won the tidiest room award one day! The theme was Superheroes in the Bible, and I
was in charge of all the songs. All the
Kindergarten and 1st graders were really into singing, and I had so
much fun teaching them lots of songs.
They were fabulous when we had a little concert at the end. After the 3 days we were all quite tired, but
we had a great time. On the way home,
the sand had blown in a certain way in the parking lot, and our car actually got
stuck in the sand. A bunch of people had
to help dig us out, but we were able to do it, luckily. It was quite annoying, but taught us patience!
PS: The boys
thought it was cool that we were all at camp at the same time, they insisted
that even Zoey was at “camp”, as the neighbors
took care of her while we were all gone!
The rest of
the week and the following week, the boys and I had vacation without Søren, as he
still had to work at his camp! 😊 We spent 1 day with our friends
Jette and Kirsten and went to the local Vikings museum. Afterwards we went
swimming in the fjord. We had awesome weather. We also visited our friends Inge and Henrik at
their cabin and went paddleboarding. We watched
our neighbors bunnies for a few days, and they had babies one day. That was a bit
weird to all of a sudden see more bunnies then the day before! We also celebrated the 4th of July with our friends Josh and Bo. Josh is also an American, so we appreciated
celebrating together.
Now, time for the USA, yay!
