Two weekends ago Søren and I took the long trip to the island of Sjælland where the famous capital of Denmark, Copenhagen is located. We have yet another friend, an old "Watermarker", who is living in the Copenhagen area and we went to see her and where she is living. It is a long drive to the other side of the country, about 3 hours, and you have to go over a huge bridge that is about 18 km long. Its very beautiful looking out to the ocean on both sides, but I can also add that it is a very expensive view. It costs about $40 each way to go on the bridge...it is crazy!
We had a nice time. It was very relaxing, we walked around in the park and had an ice cream cone. We had beautiful weather so it was just enjoyable. It was also relaxing speaking only English a whole weekend, and being able to tell some jokes like I usually do! On Sunday we went to the International Church of Copenhagen and were able to attend a service in English! It was a nice change of pace, and in general it was nice to be in the "city," but the two of us agreed on the way home that the city life is not for us!
As for this past weekend we had our big Spring party at school! Its a day where old students come to catch up with each other and reunite! It was fun for us to see some of our old students again. Then in the evening there is a big party which is more like a concert! I was in charge of the big choir and also my voice students sang a huge number together where I played in a accompainment mini band with some of the other students. Søren also had his guitar and drum students play a song and it sounded great! One other special tradition at this Spring Party is that the students create a drama and act out small and funny stories about the teachers. It is always very involved and I am always impressed by how hard they work on it. All in all it was a wonderful night!
So yeah, now we are enoying a nice relaxing evening together after a crazy weekend. Søren had been on duty this past weekend as well as being in charge of the lights and sound for the party, so he was a bit tired yesterday after putting in over 45 hours of work in 2 days! He is also working on some writing assignments and studying for exams at school, but he isn't too stressed, he just takes it one step at a time!
PS. We now have an official countdown for when we will be in the states. 45 days and counting...check it out!
