Yeah that one just sounds better in Danish. Last weekend we took our annual family trip. This time our trip took us to a little island off the west coast of Jutland, called Fur. Fur is also the island where Søren’s mom, Inger, and her older brothers grew up. Inger moved early on in elementary school, but there were a lot of memorable places to visit. Inger’s brother Ole and his wife Ruth now have a cabin on the island, and they were there that weekend, so we had them as tour guides.
We took the short 3½ minute ferry ride from Jutland to Fur and arrived at Ole and Ruth’s cabin for a delicious lunch on the grill. Then we went of to see the sights. I don’t really remember any of the names of things, but we got to see a lot of beautiful landscape. We were in and out of the car a lot, as we had to drive to the different views, but Silas did just fine and we got to see a lot.
At one point we went down to the sea and had a snack and coffee on a picnic table near the shore. It was the only time we got rained on, and luckily we were almost done eating when it came.
We had a few more stops and ended our tour at the old harbor where you could see all the old tools that were used to fish and build the harbor over 100 years ago.
We had a light dinner back at the cabin before heading home. It was fun to see so many different things on Fur. And nice to know that Silas can manage an afternoon trip without his normal 2½ hour nap.
