This year we sent 3 boys off to school on the first day of school. For Liam it was his very first school day, as he started Kindergarten (known as grade 0 here in Denmark). Liam was pretty chill, and just excited. He was super brave and went up by himself to the front of the gym when the 0 graders were presented during the morning assembly! He proudly biked with his new back pack, and he sat quietly at his desk. His first school day was only from 9-11am, so he overcame it just fine! The next day went really well and he had lots of things to tell about. He especially enjoyed getting to spend time with his "Skoleven" School friend. At their school they have the 5th grade classes pair up with the 0. grade classes, and each kids gets a school friend from 5th grade who shows them around the school, plays with them at recess, etc. Liam said almost every morning that he was excited to play with his school friend today. The fun thing is that Silas is in 5th grade and his class has Liams class, so Silas is a school friend for one of Liam's friends, and one of Silas' friends is a school friend for Liam, cute!
Anyway, he seems to be adjusting just great, an he enjoys doing homework with his brothers! As of now he refuses to give his teacher a wave, or high five, or even say hi to her in the morning, so I guess that is his way of trying to have some control, but he is doing well, so that will come. He waves out the window in the morning and then runs off to sit in the circle for the morning check in. We are so grateful that he is adjusting so well and seeming to like school a lot!
