Søren and I just got home from our very first couple trip away from Silas. Farmor (Grandma) thought it would be fun to have Silas on “vacation” so we decided to take the opportunity to go on a little getaway. We looked into many different options before finally deciding on our final destination: Norway!
It was the perfect trip because we were only gone 48 hours, but had lots of fun just being “boyfriend/girlfriend” again.
We left Silas with Farmor on Monday at 1:30pm and drove north about 3 hours to get to the Oslo Ferry. We had some time to kill so we went to our favorite supermarket and bought some goodies for the boat ride. When we got on the boat around 6pm, we found our room and decided to look around the boat. We had dinner reservations at 18.30 and were hungry by the time we sat down. Luckily it was a buffet so we got our food quickly and enjoyed being able to eat at an adult pace, with no one or anything to make us rush. After dinner we checked out the rest of the boat and took a quick look at the little store onboard before going back to our room to play some cards. We fell asleep pretty early to the soft sounds of the boat motor.
The next day the boat docked at 7:30am so we were up around 6 to get ready for breakfast and pack for our day of skiing! When got off the ship, there was a bus waiting to bring us to a ski resport inthe area. It ended up being a 2 hours trip, but the scenery was beautiful as we got further and further from Oslo and higher up in the mountains.
We arrived at Norefjell Ski Resort at 9:45am, rented some skiis and hit the slopes. It was a beautiful morning about –9 degrees celsius and the sun was shining. Everthing was so gorgeous with the snow covered valleys and fjords. We had a great morning skiing before having a quick lunch to get some energy and warm up. Then we spent the rest of the afternoon trying out some of the runs we hadn’t tried yet, and even ended up on some black diamond runs. By 3:45 my feet were very cold so we decided to call it a day. The bus was leaving to go back to the boat at 4:45 so we just sat in the warming house drinking hot chocolate and playing games on our phone.
The warm bus ride back to the boat put us to sleep and we slept for at least an hour. On the boat ride home, we had reserved a spot at the spa on board and spent 2 hours relaxing in the hottub, sauna, steam room, warm water bath, and even a cold water tube. We ended up sitting on some heated chairs looking out the window as we left the Oslo Fjord with all the beautiful city lights. It was so relaxing and a perfect way to end a day on skiis!
In the morning we woke up and got of the boat to drive back to Silas. Throughout our 48 hours we had so much fun just taking life at our tempo, talking about deeper and not so deep subjects, and just getting to prioritize each other. It was an amazing 2 days!!
